What is the Trust?

Helen and Michael created their Education Trust with the aim of helping you to achieve your full potential. They understand the importance of a good education and believe that it is the best start to a successful and happy life, and so their wish is to provide the financial support for you to receive the best education available.

Helen and Michael have therefore set aside the necessary funds and placed these funds into the care of Trustees. The Trustees have been carefully selected to act on Helen and Michael’s behalf and to enact their wishes, views, and principles.

The fees for nursery, primary school, and secondary school are guaranteed; however the fees for your higher education (such as university) will be granted on the basis that you have carefully considered your chosen form of education.

This website provides the information you need to consider the financial aspects of your career choices, and to offer you the reassurance that your ambitions will not be limited by monetary factors.

Expectations of the Trust

In keeping with the work ethic displayed by previous generations, you are expected to work hard. When Helen and Michael set the Trust up they set out clear guidelines as to how each family member will benefit from this great privilege.

The fees for nursery, primary school, and secondary school are guaranteed; however the fees for your higher education (such as university) will be granted on the basis that you have carefully considered your chosen form of education. When you are aged sixteen or above you are expected to complete the funding application form yourself, and the form has been designed to allow you to express your enthusiasm for your chosen course or subject.

No- Helen and M believe that nurseries are greatly beneficial having witnessed first-hand the positive impact Kids 1st had on children’s development.
What if I wish to attend a state school?

If you wish to go to state school no fees will be required and thus no payments will be made by the trust.

Does the Trust cover any additional costs (such as uniform and travel and meals)

No- Trust only pays school fees and any additional costs expected to be covered by parents.

What if I require extra tutoring or support ( i.e home tutoring)- will the additional costs be paid for by the Trust?

Parents or guardians are usually expected to cover additional costs such as home tutoring.

What if my parents relocate to an area with more expensive education fees (e.g London) or I wish to attend a boarding school with higher fees?

The Trust will pay fees up to the level charged by Royal Grammar School + 5%. If the fees are above this then you will be required to contact the Trustees directly to discuss the specific circumstances.

What if I have to re-sit the year at any stage in my education?

Since there can be a variety of different reasons why you may be forced to re-sit an academic year, you should once again contact the Trustees to discuss your circumstances with them.

What if I wish to study overseas?

Studying abroad might be something you wish to do, and so you should apply to the Trust if this is your wish. However, if this option is more expensive than UK study, only partial funding may be available.

What if I wish to pursue something non-academic such as sport/theatre/music?

If you excel in a particular field the Trust is there to offer the financial support necessary to achieve your maximum potential, and so in this scenario you should contact the Trustees directly via the ‘Contact’ section of this site.

What if I leave school after my GCSEs?

Our hope is that you will wish to stay in some form of education until the age of 21, since we believe this will be most beneficial in achieving your full potential. The opportunity to be supported by the trustees will be there until at least 21.

What if I choose to take a gap year?

You may wish to take a gap year, however understandably since there are no education fees to be paid the trust will not make any payments until you resume education.

What if I wish to choose something other than a university for my higher education- will I still receive funding from the Trust?

The Trust’s aim is to help you to reach your full potential, and so if you decide that you will achieve this somewhere other than university, the trustees will be happy to discuss this with you. You should contact the Trustees directly via the ‘Contact’ section of this site.

What if I go to a university that was not my first choice and/or do a course that was not my first choice?

Trustees do not have any say in the choice of university or course, but you must notify trustees of original university and course choices and any subsequent changes to these choices.

What if I decide to change my degree partway through university

You should keep the Trust informed if you wish to change your degree, but if there are no additional study years to be funded you will not have to complete another application form. If there are additional costs which arise from your decision to change course, you should complete another application form to the Trust.

Can I tell my friends about the trust?

Being a beneficiary of this Trust places you in a very privileged position, and so you should be considerate to the fact that others’ financial situations may be different. The Trust is something which should be discussed solely by the Trustees and by family members.

How will the money be paid?

The money will be paid via a direct debit between the Trust and the institution, as we believe this is the simplest and most hassle-free solution.
